A Cozy Morning with a Newborn Boy and His Big Sisters: An In-Home Photography Session

There’s something truly special about photographing families in the comfort of their own home -especially when there’s a brand new baby to celebrate.

This week, I had the joy of documenting a beautiful in-home session for a family welcoming their newest member: a sweet baby boy, just a few months old. He’s the youngest of three, with two older sisters who were absolutely smitten with him (and maybe just a little excited to show off their big sister status).

When I arrived, the house was filled with that warm, lived-in energy that comes with a newborn – soft music playing, the smell of coffee, a few swaddles draped over the couch, and parents who were simultaneously glowing and sleep-deprived. It felt like stepping into a quiet moment of magic.

What I love about in-home sessions is the opportunity to catch those unscripted, real-life moments. The older sisters danced around the nursery, showing me their favourite books and occasionally stopping to kiss their baby brother’s tiny toes. One of my favourite images from the session was when they both leaned over his bassinet, giggling as he yawned—a perfect blend of chaos and calm that only siblings can create.

We also took some time for just Mum and Dad with their new little guy. There’s a kind of quiet intimacy that happens in those moments, a deep, almost sacred connection between parents and their newborn. It’s the kind of thing that can’t be posed – only gently observed and captured.

Sessions like this remind me why I do what I do. It’s not about the perfect shot—it’s about preserving the feeling of these fleeting, tender moments. The way a newborn curls up into his mother’s chest. The proud smile of a dad watching his daughters hold their brother. The tiny details of home that will one day be part of the family’s story.

And this family’s story? It’s off to a beautiful start.
